Utah Vs. Wyoming

This was so creative and hilarious I had to post it here. Our friend and co-worker Josh made this goodbye video for Cammie.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times

Today was a sad day because it was Cammie's last day of work. She will be greatly missed!. She has been working for the University of Utah since 1850 when it was founded. (Okay it was really 1999) She has made a great contribution to the U through all of her hard work. Cammie helped me get my job and I am so grateful for her. Wednesdays and Fridays will never be the same. I love you sissy!!
We surprised her with a wonderful pizza party!

Must try recipe!

Tonight I was making some Halloween sugar cookies and I wanted to share this delicious recipe with all of you. I got it from Chef Bryan on channel 2. Last time I recruited help from Cali and Carter because this recipe makes about 65-70 cookies. Happy Halloween!

6 ½ cups flour
1 tbsp baking powder
½ cup butter
½ cup shortening
4 ounces cream cheese
2 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 cup dairy sour cream
2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tbsp vanilla

Mix flour, baking powder and salt together. Set aside until ready to use.
Add butter, shortening, sugar and cream cheese in a large mixing bowl and cream together.
Add the eggs, sour cream. Mix completely.
Mix in the baking soda, salt, and vanilla. Mix well.
Add the flour mixture and blend together. If dough is to wet, add more flour to accommodate.
Chill dough in refrigerator for about 1 hour.
Roll out, cut in desired shape and bake in a 375 degree oven for about 8 minutes or until edges are slightly browned.
Decorate as desired and ENJOY!

Second Job

I am very excited to announce my new second job. Where am I working? Well where else than the University of Utah!!! (I would never cheat on the U, I love this place) Okay, let me explain. Starting spring semester I will be teaching a few turbo kick classes for the campus recreation fitness program. I met with my "new boss" last night and she is awesome. I am so excited and can't wait to begin. I teach/train for my real job and I hope all of those skills will spill over into instructing my turbo classes. Lucky for me I already have a dedicated student who has promised to attend my class. I will not reveal his identity (Isaac)
If any of you attend the U or work here sign up! It will be a butt-shakin' good time.

Life Changes

Do any of you fear life changes?

I usually try to embrace change with a positive upbeat attitude. However, the last few weeks have been a struggle as I have tried to accept a new life change. Christian, Cammie, Cali, and Carter are moving away from me. Christian landed an awesome job in Rock Springs Wyoming. This might not seem like a big deal to some of you, or you might not understand how this could be classified as a “life change.” But for those of you who have ever met Cammie and I you know that are lives will never be the same.

When I graduated high school I moved to Salt Lake. Christian and Cammie were nice enough to let me move in with them. I worked at the U in a job that Cammie helped me get. That summer (2003) Cali was born. I was so excited to share this special time with them. For a few weeks before school started Cali and I even shared a room in the Pollastro Apartment. Back then we enjoyed, trips to Costco with Baby Cali, Going to Christians softball games, taking Cali to new places and eating out a lot.

At the end of my freshmen year Christian helped me get a job in the Costco food court. I loved seeing Christian at work and people automatically loved me because they new him. That year Christian also helped me buy my first car. He was fortunate enough to give me my first free way driving lesson which only included 3 f-words. Over the next year and a half I worked at Costco and spent most of my free time with Cammie and Christian. They moved into a new house and let me live with them again. I would sleep at their house when I would work late nights. Cammie went back to work part time so I would tend Cali every Thursday. Back then we were eating a lot of Costco ice creams and taking walks around Campus to see Cammie.

Tyler and I started dating when Cammie was pregnant with Carter. I was always looking to her for advice and helping her get ready for baby number 2. When Carter was born Tyler and I had just gotten engaged and went and visited Cammie, Christian and baby Carter at the hospital. Cammie helped me with numerous wedding plans and gave me lots of sisterly advice. We decided to get married on December 27, mainly because that was the best day for Christian to get work off of Costco. We moved to Logan soon after that and I remember feeling so scared to leave my second family. Next we moved to Price and I felt scared again, but with each move things didn’t really change and I was still able to see the kids a lot too.

When we moved back to Salt Lake you can imagine how excited I was. I didn’t have class on Fridays and so I tended Cali and Carter until I graduated in May. When I began looking for a job Cammie helped me get the job I am currently working. It has been a great fit and a huge blessing in my life. I have also had the privilege of working with her on Wednesdays and Fridays.

I feel sad, scared, overwhelmed, proud, excited and every other emotion you can possibly imagine. I really feel like I am loosing my second family. The last few weeks I have been lucky to spend lots of time with them. I wish them all the best of luck; I know that it is going to be a great move for them. Thank you Christian and Cammie for all of your love, support, free meals, jobs, advice, examples, and everything else you have done for me throughout the years. As for me, it looks like Rock Springs is going to become a very popular vacation spot!

Saturday

The day started out with some Saturday chores and Tyler going to the school at 7:30 to study. I went out on a shopping rampage and didn't have much luck. Tyler and I joined forces and both found some shoes. Later we went on a relaxing drive through emigration canyon.

Tyler's True Love

A few days ago Falon came to visit and brought her new puppy Stewie. Tyler was so happy to let Stewie lick him all about the face. I have to admit even I thought he was an adorable little pup!

Turbo Kick (I'm Official)

Here's the story. I started doing Turbo Jam 3 years ago. (You may have seen the infomercials.) I had gained some bad freshmen 15 and needed to get moving. Turbo jam is the video version of turbo kick. I really loved it and have combined it with my other workouts over the past few years. Well one of my goals this year was to become certified to teach it, and actually find a job instructing.
This weekend I was worked over as I attended the turbo kick instructor training. It was so hard and such a blast and I can't wait to start instructing. If any of you know a gym or somewhere that is looking for a turbo kick instructor please let me know! (If any of you would like a private turbo kick session, that can also be arranged)

Conference Weekend

Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with friends and family.
President Thomas S. Monson

With all of the craziness this week I forgot to post a comment about General Conference. We were lucky to spend some time with Cammie, Christian and the 2 wild meowzers. Conference was very uplifting and I learned so much.

We're Sisters

If any of you were wondering what my sisters and I will be performing for our next family reunion talent show, here it is! Cammie and Christian showed me this hilarious SNL clip and I must pass it on. Cammie this one goes out to you!

"Say it IS so"!!!!!

My Brother playing with Weezer on Tuesday Night!
Today I got the most hilarious phone call from Brandt. Cammie was stuck in traffic and heard about a contest X96 was having. They were auditioning people who play instruments to perform with Weezer on tuesday night. Cammie called Brandt, he called X96 and played his trumpet! The rest is history. He gets to practice with Weezer all day tuesday and has free backstage passes-so he can hang with the band until he plays. I am so excited for him! He is taking Cammie as his guest since she let him in on the magic! So if any of you are at the show, watch for my bro. In the words of Weezer. "Only in dreams."
Listen to my bro here! (Thanks Josh for making this awesome video!)
