Are there phrases that just drive you crazy???? For example, Tyler has a teacher that says "exactly" approximately 50,500 times in one hour. As a trainer I spend a lot of time in classrooms and can't believe the overused ums, likes, and uhs that are constantly used. But the phrase that pisses me off more than anything else is "does that make sense?" Sure in moderation it is a good clarifying question, but it certainly gets over used. Using this phrase too much is really demeaning and rude. The other day I was caught on film using this swear word so my friend Josh made me this video. I hope you like it!

OMG that was so funny! I loved the video.
Hahahaha that is so funny! I have a professor who says "Sense it makes?" So if you wanna stop yourself from sounding rude, just talk like Yoda.
I love the video!
Shame on you for using that language!! loved the video. So does that make sense?
Wow, you feel really deeply about that phrase don't you! I've used it too but with all sincerity since I tend to have several random thoughts and things make sense in my head but when I try to get them out they don't come out as clear as they are in my head, do you know what I mean? Sometimes I say it really slowly along with, "do you know what I'm saying?" For some reason it's funny when you say it slow.
The one that bugged me the most was from the creepiest teacher in HS name Zork. He would always say "and such" and it drove me nuts!
There are some people I used to work with and several of my other coworkers and I would count the finger quote marks they made when talking. One time we counted 20 in a 35 minute training session.
p.s. my first post wasn't long enough so I'm adding an additional one.
I've been thinking about this.
"Does that make sense?" reflects more upon the speakers' explanation.
"Do you know what I mean?" reflects more upon the listeners' interpretation. Therefore, "Does that make sense" is hereby deemed non-condescending but still annoying if over-used. Tone plays a role also so that can be factored in if necessary. And there you have it.
I am so digging the dancing turtle:D. I will have to show Aden the video, he is a dancing fiend and loves turtles so it will be his favorite :D.
Does that make sense is possibly THE most condecending phrase of all time, especially when used 100 times per hour. In my humble/professional opinion, "Does that make sense?" just proves the person over-using the phrase is insecure about his/her abilities to convey a message and/or to communicate in general. It could also be a way to make sure that a person remembers his/her own lies/stories in an attempt to garner audience approval, and thus validate the fabrication....
I think you know who I'm talking about...{hint} it's not you!
